At the India Maritime Week 2025, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi showcased Odisha’s illustrious maritime heritage and its forward-looking vision for the future with much pride and enthusiasm.
Taking to social media platform X, the Chief Minister reflected on the state’s historic maritime journey — a time when Odia sailors fostered trade and cultural exchange across distant lands — and linked it to present-day achievements in world-class ports, robust coastal infrastructure, and growing investments in the blue economy.
The Odisha Pavilion at the event drew significant attention for its impressive display of the state’s strategic coastal position, progressive port policy, and integrated maritime development approach. These features, Majhi noted, are transforming Odisha into a key player within India’s eastern maritime corridor.
Majhi reiterated his government’s commitment to preserving Odisha’s rich maritime traditions while steering the state towards a sustainable and globally connected future. He emphasised that Odisha’s blue economy is poised to play a vital role in the nation’s broader plans to strengthen India’s coastal and maritime sectors.

In his post, Majhi wrote: “Visited the Odisha Pavilion at #IndiaMaritimeWeek2025 and saw a tremendous display highlighting the State's inspiring maritime odyssey — from our sailors who once explored far-off shores, building trade and cultural ties, to today’s world-class ports, strong coastal infrastructure, and growing investments in the blue economy. Odisha’s geographical advantage, forward-looking port policy, and holistic approach to maritime development are making the State one of India’s shining maritime hubs in the eastern corridor. Our goal is to honour our seafaring heritage while charting a modern, sustainable, and globally linked future for Odisha’s blue economy.
