Security forces on Saturday apprehended an overground worker (OGW) linked to terrorists in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said. The arrested OGW was identified as Umar Malik, a resident of the Kachipora area of the district.
According to officials, a star pistol, two rounds of ammunition, a magazine, a Chinese grenade, a Pakistani grenade, and a mobile phone were recovered from him. This comes a day after security forces busted a terror hideout in the forests of Kishtwar and recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition along with communication devices.
The hideout, located in the Bajmandoo forest of the Chatroo-Sigdi Bhata area, belonged to a terrorist commander who was neutralised earlier by security forces. Joint teams of the Army and the Special Operations Group (SOG) recovered items, including a carbine gun, pistols, 51 mm rockets, UBGL ammunition, and detonators from the site.
Earlier in April, an interstate crackdown led to the arrest of five overground workers (OGWs), including foreign nationals, disrupting a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) network involved in robbing banks and petrol pumps.
