Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is currently on a two-day visit to Gujarat to promote tourism in the UT, praised Gujarat’s famous Sabarmati front during his early morning routine run on Thursday.
While taking to social media, Omar praised Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Riverfront by calling it “one of the nicest places” he has run.
CM Abdullah, who loved his morning run along the popular walkway, said, “This is one of the nicest riverfronts in the country.”
J&K CM is in the state to engage tour operators and reconnect with the key domestic travel market after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that has deeply hurt Kashmir’s tourism during recent months.
While some domestic and international travellers have started to turn to Kashmir, hoteliers, tour operators, and stakeholders have said that hotel occupancy rates have recovered by just over 20 per cent despite being the peak months of the tourism season.
Meanwhile, Omar’s post on X said, “while in #Ahmedabad for a tourism event, I took advantage of being here to get my morning run at the famed Sabarmati River Front promenade. It’s one of the nicest places I’ve been able to run & it was a pleasure to get to share it with so many other walkers/runners. I even managed to run past the amazing Atal Foot Bridge.”
Omar, while praising the state of Gujarat for playing its role in Kashmir tourism, said, “Gujarat, along with Maharashtra and West Bengal, has always played a major role in Kashmir’s tourism economy.”
