The Governor also paid tributes to Himachal's brave soldiers who displayed exemplary courage and supreme sacrifice in safeguarding the nation.

On the occasion of Himachal Day, Governor Kavinder Gupta extended his greetings to the people of the state, calling for a unified effort toward social welfare.

The Governor urged a collective commitment to transform Himachal Pradesh into a drug-free state. He emphasised that the honour and dignity of the “devbhoomi” can be preserved only when its youth remain free from the menace of drugs, noting that their active participation in society is essential for meaningful nation-building.

Himachal Pradesh came into existence with the merger of 30 small and large hill princely states on April 15, 1948, Gupta said.

The state has always been at the forefront in patriotism and sacrifice and therefore it is often referred to as “veer bhoomi”, the Governor said while paying tributes to Himachal's brave soldiers who displayed exemplary courage and supreme sacrifice in safeguarding the nation.

Gupta said as the state celebrates its 79th Himachal Day, it is a matter of pride that despite its limited geographical size, Himachal Pradesh has achieved remarkable progress in various sectors.

The state has carved a distinct identity across the country in the fields of education, healthcare, social welfare, infrastructure development and environmental conservation, he said.

Gupta attributed these achievements to the hard work, strong determination of the citizens and the visionary leadership that has guided the state towards growth and development.

He further said Himachal Day inspires everyone to work together for the inclusive development of the state and to lay a strong foundation for a safe, prosperous and culturally rich Himachal for the coming generations.
