A woman was killed and 25 others injured after an overloaded Bolero Camper plunged into a deep gorge in the Dodra Kwar region of Shimla district on Monday, according to the police.
The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Shana Devi, a resident of Dodra village.
The police said the accident occurred near Gusangu village when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid off the road and fall into a deep gorge. The woman was killed on the spot and 25 persons were hurt.
Police teams rushed to the spot upon receiving the information, recovered the body and rescued the injured.
Of the 25 injured, around 20 sustained minor injuries and are being treated at the Civil Hospital in Dodra Kwar. Five critically injured people have been referred to the Civil Hospital in Sandasu for advanced care.
Shimla Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi confirmed the incident and said a case has been registered. Further investigation is underway.
