A day earlier , security forces recovered a suspected “nano drone” which was found lying in a border area of Chakroi in R S Pura tehsil. The recovery was made on Thursday night from the border area of Chakroi in R S Pura, on the information provided by a local resident. An investigation has been launched in this regard, officials added. Pertinently, drone incursions are no new to J&K security agencies as Pakistan has lately been exploiting this technology to send across drugs and other incriminating things through these bodies, no matter on a small scale at one point of time.
There have been 791 drone incursions in 2025 along the western border. A majority of these were along the Punjab and Rajasthan borders, while just nine were in Jammu and Kashmir Even as the India-Pakistan border in Jammu and Kashmir has become a fortress, security forces have foiled many such incursions in the past and are alert to such developments in and around border areas .
Investigating agencies are on their toes with the case relating to narcotics increasing in Jammu and Kashmir. Syndicates operating from Pakistan are the main suppliers of drugs into Jammu and Kashmir, officials say. They have been exploiting some vulnerabilities along the border areas to push drugs into the Union Territory. In recent times, drugs have been smuggled into Punjab and then transported by road to J&K, investigations have found.
