An Indian Army soldier was killed and two others were injured after an Army truck plunged into a gorge along National Highway-13 in Dirang in Arunachal Pradesh's West Kameng district on Friday, officials said.
The accident occurred at around 2 pm when a truck belonging to the 18 Sikh Light Infantry was travelling towards its unit carrying three Army personnel.
According to official sources, the vehicle lost control and veered off the highway near the parade ground of the 30 Battalion, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in Dirang before crashing through the unit's chain-link fence and plunging into a gorge along the steep hillside.
Soon after the accident, a Quick Reaction Team (QRT) from the 30 Battalion SSB rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations.
One of the injured soldiers was given first aid at the SSB unit's Medical Inspection Room before being referred to the District Hospital in Bomdila for further treatment. The other two personnel were evacuated to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Dirang.

Doctors at the CHC declared one of the soldiers brought dead, while the remaining two are undergoing treatment at medical facilities in Dirang and Bomdila.
The incident was immediately reported to the concerned Army authorities, and an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the cause of the accident.
Officials said further details, including what led to the vehicle losing control, are awaited.
The accident occurred along a mountainous stretch of NH-13, which passes through steep terrain in West Kameng district and is frequently used by military convoys deployed in the region.
The identities of the deceased and injured soldiers have not yet been officially disclosed.
