After a brief disruption triggered by a cloudburst and heavy rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir, the national highway (NH-44) connecting Srinagar to Jammu was restored for one-way traffic on Thursday morning.
As per the J&K Traffic police advisory, subject to feasible weather and good road conditions, One-way traffic for LMVS followed by HMVS shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu.
LMVS shall be allowed up to 1600 hrs; subsequently, HMVS shall be allowed up to 1500 hrs, from the NAVYUG-Banihal tunnel towards Jammu.
The travellers are advised to follow the route and plan their exit accordingly, as no traffic will be allowed to pass through the tunnel after 4 pm. HMVS shall be allowed after assessing the road and traffic situation on NH-44. TCU Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the HMVs.
Meanwhile, the decision regarding the vehicular movement on the Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road shall be taken after getting a green signal from the road maintenance agency, NHIDCL.
Further, the traffic on the Srinagar-Leh highway will be restored after a green signal from the Border Roads Organisation.
These vehicles shall be allowed from Sonamarg between 0900 hrs to 1130 hrs. Thereafter, only LMVS shall be allowed from Kargil towards Srinagar; these vehicles shall be allowed from Minamarg between 1230 hrs to 1530 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timing.
Additionally, traffic on the Mughal Road shall be allowed only after the assessment of the weather and road conditions.
People are advised to undertake the journey only after confirming the status of the road from the Traffic control units as under:
