The Bharmour administration in Chamba district has announced that online registration for the Manimahesh Yatra 2026 will begin at 10 am on August 5. In the first phase, devotees can book slots for the pilgrimage on August 25, 26 and 27.

The annual pilgrimage to the sacred Manimahesh Lake will start on August 25, which coincides with Janmashtami, and conclude on September 19 on the occasion of Radhashtami. This year, the administration has made online registration compulsory to manage the flow of pilgrims and ensure a safe yatra.

Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Bharmour, Vikas Sharma, said only 5,000 devotees will be allowed to undertake the yatra each day. Registrations will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis, and devotees have been advised to book their slots as early as possible.

Sharma said that no pilgrim will be allowed to proceed on the route without a valid online registration. He added that devotees must carry a printed copy of their registration, which will be checked at designated points along the route. Pilgrims have also been advised to keep all required documents ready before starting the registration process.

He further informed that registrations for the remaining dates of the yatra will be opened in stages. Details regarding additional slots and schedules will be available on the official Manimahesh Yatra website. Sharma appealed to pilgrims to follow all safety instructions and rely only on official updates to avoid confusion caused by misinformation.

According to Sharma, the online registration system has been introduced to improve crowd management, strengthen safety measures and ensure the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.

The Manimahesh Yatra is considered one of the most important Hindu pilgrimages in North India. Every year, thousands of devotees visit the sacred Manimahesh Lake, located at an altitude of around 4,080 metres in the Budhil Valley of Bharmour. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the pilgrimage attracts devotees from different parts of the country, especially Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
