Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said that India is uniquely positioned to become a global leader in technology and services, largely due to its demographic advantage.
Addressing the 'National Conference on e-Governance' in the port city of Visakhapatnam, the Chief Minister contrasted India’s massive population of 143 crore with the ageing populations of countries in Europe and Japan.
He argued that while these nations may have technology, but they face shortage of skilled professionals— a crisis that he believes only India can solve.
"I am telling you, the future will be different. Only India can provide services to the global community," Naidu said. He also pointed out that China has "only 130 crore population," positioning India's size as a significant market advantage.
Naidu expressed confidence that by focusing on the 'Swadeshi movement,' India can create its own "big brands" and eventually meet global demand for all products. He then announced an ambitious project in Andhra Pradesh, revealing that the state is creating a mechanism to produce quantum computers with players like IBM and TCS.
"I am assuring you within two years' time, India is going to produce quantum computers, and we are going to export," he said, adding that Amaravati is being established as India's "Quantum Valley," akin to the US's Silicon Valley.
Naidu called the Quantum Valley and Artificial Intelligence (AI) a "deadly combination" that will redefine how governments function.
Lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi as "the right leader in the right place" who understands technology and its power, Naidu expressed his confidence that India would emerge as the world's number one country. He noted that the next 10 years are very crucial and inspiring, as technologies like AI, machine learning, blockchain, and quantum computing will redefine how governments think and act.
