The Rajouri anti-terror operation has entered its 36th day on Saturday as security forces continue searches in the dense forests, officials said. Code-named Operation Sheruwali, the operation is ongoing in the Dorimal forests of the Gambhir Mughlan area. J&K Police and security forces continue intensive search operations.
The mission remains underway and will continue until the area is fully sanitised.
Joint teams of the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) and other security agencies remain deployed in the region.
Operation Sheruwali is a large-scale counter-terrorism combing mission in the dense forest belts of the Dorimal-Gambhir Mughlan sector in the Rajouri district.
Launched in late May following multiple gunfights between militants and security forces, the agencies are battling difficult terrain to track the hiding infiltrators.
A massive search operation is underway in the forest area with coordinated human and technical surveillance, including K-9 squads of the Indian Army.
According to officials, all agencies involved in the operation are maintaining close coordination to achieve their objectives.
Officials said the operation is still in progress and security forces continue to dominate the area through extensive searches and monitoring.
Additional security measures remain in place to prevent any untoward incident.
