Anti-terror operation entered its 37th day on Sunday as security forces combed the dense forests of the Dorimal area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. The operation is one of the longest continuous anti-terror missions in the region's recent history.
Code-named Operation Sheruwali, the mission has stretched to nearly five weeks in the Dorimal forests of the Gambhir Mughlan area.
Joint teams of the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) and other security agencies remain deployed in the region.
The operation is ongoing in the dense forests of the Dorimal-Gambhir Mughlan sector in the Rajouri district. Launched in late May following twin gunfights between militants and security forces, the agencies are battling difficult terrain to track the hiding infiltrators.
A massive search operation is underway in the forest area with coordinated human and technical surveillance, including K-9 squads of the Indian Army.
According to officials, all agencies involved in the operation are maintaining close coordination to achieve their objectives.
Officials said the operation is still in progress and security forces continue to dominate the area through extensive searches and monitoring.
Additional security measures remain in place to prevent any untoward incident. The operation will continue in the forest areas until the security forces fully sanitise the region and achieve the stated objectives.
