Union Home Minister Amit Shah speaks at Uttar Pradesh foundation day celebrations at Rashtra Prerna Sthal on Saturday.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed Uttar Pradesh as the "soul" of India on Saturday, declaring that the state is on track to become the primary engine driving the country toward its goal of being a developed nation by 2047. Speaking at the state's foundation day celebrations at Rashtra Prerna Sthal, Shah urged voters to look past caste and community lines in the upcoming 2027 elections to reject dynastic politics and continue the momentum of the "double-engine" government.

Shah didn't hold back in his critique of previous administrations, arguing that the Congress, SP, and BSP had historically relegated Uttar Pradesh to "BIMARU" status— a term used to describe states with poor economic indicators. He credited the partnership between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for transforming UP into what he called a "breakthrough state," where development has finally reached the village level.

This Home Minister also pointed towards a major shift in law and order being the primary reason behind this shift. This is evident from his claim that a "better environment has paved the way for investment proposals to the tune of ₹15 lakh crores." Whether it is the production of BrahMos Missiles or infrastructure development such as highways and airports, Home Minister Shah pointed towards how the infrastructure of this state has become unrecognizable over the course of a decade. "In particular, we have implemented initiatives such as the "One District One Product" scheme, besides providing interest-free loans of over ₹5,300 crores to the youth of the state."

Apart from the economy, Shah spoke of different aspects of culture and mentioned issues concerning the building of a temple in Ayodhya and the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj. He described Rashtra Prerna Sthal—where the event was held—as a future landmark for national inspiration, dedicated to the legacies of Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Deendayal Upadhyaya, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

As the state enters an election cycle next year, Shah’s message was a direct appeal for a massive mandate. He asserted that only the BJP could ensure that 24/7 electricity, corruption-free welfare, and global-scale manufacturing continue to define the state’s future. "When we celebrate the centenary of our independence in 2047," Shah said, "Uttar Pradesh will stand as a fully developed pillar of a developed India."
