The Shimla Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for hailstorms, thunderstorms with lightning, and gusty winds blowing at speeds of 40–50 km/h. The warning is for isolated areas in four districts — Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla — on Tuesday.
A yellow alert has also been issued for a heatwave in Kangra, Kullu, and Mandi on Monday. In addition, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are likely at isolated places in six districts — Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, and Sirmaur — on Wednesday and Thursday.
Officials explained that a yellow alert indicates adverse weather conditions that may disrupt daily activities and requires people to remain cautious. An orange alert signals more severe weather that can significantly affect transport, electricity supply, and public safety.
