Orange alert in Himachal; heavy rain expected on May 30, 31

The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for several districts in Himachal Pradesh, warning of thunderstorms and hailstorms on Tuesday. The alert covers Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Solan, and Sirmaur, where gusty winds up to 60 km/h, heavy rain, and hail may create hazardous conditions.

The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for several districts in Himachal Pradesh, warning of thunderstorms and hailstorms on Tuesday. The alert covers Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Solan, and Sirmaur, where gusty winds up to 60 km/h, heavy rain, and hail may create hazardous conditions.

 

The authorities have urged residents in the affected areas to stay alert and take necessary precautions, particularly in vulnerable regions.

 

Further alerts have been issued for Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla districts for Wednesday, with forecasts of continued storm activity and hail. Weather officials have warned that the next 48 hours could bring damage due to rain and hail in many parts of the state.

 

A strong Western Disturbance is expected to become more active by May 30, leading to widespread heavy rainfall across Himachal Pradesh on May 30 and 31. Unsettled weather is likely to persist through June 1.

 

Clear skies over the past 24 hours have resulted in a significant rise in temperatures in many areas. Kalpa recorded the sharpest increase with a spike of 8.2°C, taking the temperature to 24.6°C.

 

Solan saw a 7.0°C surge, reaching 29.5°C, while Narkanda’s temperature rose by 6.5°C to 21.2°C. Reckong Peo and Kasauli reported increases of 7.1°C and 4.2°C, respectively. Bhuntar in Kullu district recorded a temperature of 35.4°C after a 3.4°C rise.

 

Una remained the hottest location with a high of 39.2°C, followed by Sundernagar and Bhuntar at 35.4°C, and Bilaspur at 37.1°C.

 

Residents are advised to monitor official weather updates closely and avoid travel in vulnerable regions during the alert period.
