Over 100 flights and train operations disrupted due to poor visibility

Dense fog in Delhi has resulted in widespread travel disruptions, impacting both rail and air traffic, as poor visibility continues to challenge commuters.

Nearly two dozen flights and trains have been delayed due to bad weather conditions in the national capital.


Dense fog and poor visibility in New Delhi led to significant disruptions, with more than 25 trains departing from the city delayed, including major services like Poorva Express, Farakka Express and Karnataka Express.

 

The persistent cold temperatures, coupled with the foggy conditions, exacerbated the situation. Here are top updates on Delhi weather today:

  1. The trains delayed included Swaraj Express, KCVL ASR SF Express, INDB NOLS Express, UP SMPRK Kranti Express, LTT HW AC Express, Tamil Nadu SF Express, AP Express, CG Sampark Kranti Express, RKMP NZM SF Express, Telangana Express, Karnataka Express, Mandore Express and SBIB NDLS Raj Express.

  2. Over 100 flights were delayed and ten cancelled due to zero or low visibility conditions in Delhi-NCR region.

  3. Zero visibility has been reported across airports in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh today.

  4. Delhi’s Palam Airport, Punjab’s Amristar Airport, Varanasi, Agra and Lucknow airports in Uttar Pradesh reported zero visibility at 5:30 am today.

  5. At Delhi’s IGI airport, as many as 117 flights were delayed due to dense fog, with 76 flights reporting an average delay time of 20 minutes at 7 am, according to flight tracking website Flightradar24.

  6. Delhi Airport issued an advisory amid dense fog on its official X account, stating, “While landings and take offs continue at Delhi Airport, flights that are not CAT III compliant may get affected. Passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information. Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted."

  7. IMD issued an orange warning for Delhi due to dense to very dense fog across many places.
