Over 15 people, including several school children, were hurt after a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus overturned in Solan district on Friday morning, the police said.
The incident occurred near Sariyang village while the bus was en route to Shimla from Sheelghat in the Arki subdivision. According to passengers, over 30 passengers were on board when a pressure pipe of the bus burst, causing the driver to lose control.
In an attempt to prevent a major tragedy, the driver reportedly steered the bus towards the hillside. The vehicle overturned after hitting the slope. The police said the exact cause of the accident is yet to be confirmed.
All injured passengers were rushed to the Arki Civil Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. Further investigation is underway, authorities added.
