Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s native village Nemra is witnessing large-scale preparations ahead of the ‘Shradh-Karma’ (last rites) of Shibu Soren on August 15 and the Sanskar Bhoj on August 16. The events are expected to draw more than two lakh people, including prominent national and state leaders.

To ensure smooth access for VIPs, four helipads have been built— three near the late leader’s ancestral home and one on Lukaiyatand Road. Invitation cards, printed in Hindi and Santhali, are being widely distributed.

For crowd management, barricades have been placed 300 metres from Soren’s ancestral house, restricting entry to VIPs and close associates. General visitors’ vehicles will be stopped here, with a dedicated parking space set up a kilometre away for VIPs.

Around 300 e-rickshaws will be stationed at Lukaiyatand to transport attendees from parking zones to the venue.

Infrastructure improvements are also underway. A new road from Gola to Silli More is being constructed to facilitate easier travel to Nemra.

Five large pandals are being erected, with three located near the community hall reserved exclusively for VIP guests. Additionally, four designated points will display portraits of Shibu Soren for visitors to offer floral tributes.

Security arrangements are extensive, with nine IPS officers deployed from August 14 to 16 and 40 DSPs stationed between August 12 and 17. The police headquarters has issued clear directives to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of both events.

With infrastructure upgrades, dedicated VIP facilities, and robust security measures, Nemra is preparing to host one of the largest public gatherings in recent memory to honour the late leader.
