Ahead of the Pahalgam terror attack anniversary, the Indian Army on Tuesday issued a stern warning to elements trying to disturb peace in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that any aggression crossing humanitarian limits would invite a decisive and crushing response. The Army asserted that the nation stands united in its resolve against terrorism.

In a post on X, the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) said, “When boundaries of humanity are crossed, the response is decisive. Justice is served. India stands united.” The post, accompanied by a poster, added, “Some boundaries should never be crossed. India does not forget.”

The warning came a day before the nation marks the first anniversary of the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, in which terrorists gunned down 26 civilians, mostly tourists, in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam.

The victims were holidaying with their loved ones when a group of terrorists suddenly emerged from the dense forest and opened indiscriminate fire on them. Besides the 26 deaths, more than 50 people were injured in the attack.

Tensions escalated between India and Pakistan after investigators linked the terrorists to Pakistan-backed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.

During the night of May 6–7, India launched aerial strikes on terror infrastructure inside Pakistani territory, which led to limited military confrontations after Pakistani forces shelled forward areas along the Line of Control. Both sides later agreed to a ceasefire on May 11 at 5 pm.

Security has been heightened across major tourist hotspots and religious places in the Valley and parts of Jammu ahead of the Pahalgam attack anniversary.
