A Pakistani national was shot and killed by the Border Security Force (BSF) early Thursday while allegedly attempting to cross into Indian territory in Punjab’s Ferozepur sector along the International Border.
According to an official BSF statement, the intruder was spotted advancing toward the border fence under the cover of darkness after breaching the International Boundary. Despite multiple verbal warnings issued by the BSF personnel, the intruder continued to approach the restricted area, prompting the troops to open fire in response. The body was recovered at daybreak and handed over to the local police for further procedures.
The incident comes amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, following a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam and subsequent Indian retaliatory strikes under “Operation Sindoor.”
This marks the second infiltration attempt reported in Punjab within the week. On Sunday, BSF personnel apprehended another Pakistani national—identified as Muhammad Hussain—in the Gurdaspur sector. He was found in possession of Pakistani currency and a national identity card. Hussain remains in the Punjab Police custody for further investigation.
In a related development, BSF forces in Rajasthan detained a Pakistani Ranger who allegedly crossed the international border. Preliminary inquiries suggest possible espionage or reconnaissance motives. He is currently under interrogation by BSF intelligence units.
