Panun Kashmir, a Kashmiri Pandit organisation, has expelled its former chairman Ajay Chrungoo with immediate effect and ordered an inquiry into his alleged foreign links, according to a circular issued on Saturday.

The circular accused Chrungoo of interacting with US-based Pakistani ISI agent Ghulam Nabi Fai. Tito Ganju has been nominated as the new chairman, though he is yet to issue a formal statement.

The decision was taken by convenor Agnishekhar after consultations with senior leaders, including general secretary Kuldeep Raina, organising secretary Behari Lal Kaul, publicity and media secretary, vice chairman, and several senior activists.

The organisation stated that the action was necessary “to safeguard the ideology, discipline and mission of the organisation representing the aspirations and struggle of the migrant Kashmiri Pandit community.”

The circular further alleged that the former chairman had engaged in “anti-organisational conduct, deviation from ideological principles, and character assassination of senior activists through proxies.”

It also claimed Chrungoo “tried to dissolve the organisation in cahoots with the ISI without the consent and mandate from leadership.”

The expulsion referenced recent statements by Chrungoo, including criticism of the Ram Temple, which were perceived as hostile toward the nation.

Several questions were raised about his alleged foreign engagements and interactions with individuals linked to foreign agencies.

“In view of the seriousness of the allegations and the continued absence of clarification, it was resolved that Ajay Chrungoo stands expelled from the organisation with immediate effect,” the circular said.

Tito Ganju, as the new chairman, will oversee the restructuring of the global organisational structure. A team nominated by the convenor will hold deliberations on drafting a revised constitutional framework.
