To improve policing, the Patna police have decided to ban constables from using smartphones while on duty.
This order was issued by DIG and Patna SSP Rajeev Mishra's confidential branch. It states that constables cannot carry smartphones during duty hours, except in special cases when they may use basic keypad phones.
The decision came after authorities noticed that many constables were distracted by their smartphones, which affected their work and discipline.
The ban will be enforced starting December 27 and will apply to all constables in Patna district.
The order also emphasises that using smartphones during duty will be treated as a serious offence. It will be considered negligence, indiscipline, and unprofessional conduct.
