The federation of patwaris and kanungos has called off its two-week-long strike after a meeting with Himachal Pradesh Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi in Shimla.
The strike involved more than 4,000 revenue officials and started because the government decided to change their work structure, shifting them from the district to the state cadre.
This change caused many concerns among the officials and also created difficulties for the public, as important revenue-related work was delayed.
After discussions with the minister, the federation was assured that the change would not affect their recruitment, promotions, or any other benefits.
"We have received detailed explanations about the move. We have been assured that it will not harm our interests in any way," said Satish Chaudhary, president of the federation.
With these assurances, the officials decided to end the strike. "Since our doubts have been cleared, we are calling off the strike. All patwaris and kanungos will return to work from tomorrow," Chaudhary confirmed.
