A white-and-blue balloon carrying the inscription "PIA" in English along with a printed image of the Pakistan national flag was found lying in bushes near a village in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district on Wednesday, police officials said.
A former pradhan of Nagali gram panchayat noticed the balloon and immediately informed officials at the Khairi police station about the incident. Following the information, a police team headed by Dalhousie Deputy Superintendent of Police Mayank Sharma reached the spot and carried out a detailed inspection of the area.
Police officials took possession of the balloon, deposited it in the police ‘Malkhana’ (property room), and have started an investigation to ascertain its origin and circumstances.
Local residents said a similar balloon had been recovered from the same area a few days earlier, making this the second such incident. Villagers added that such balloons occasionally appear in different districts of the state from time to time.
