Six workers engaged in cleaning work were killed and five others critically injured after a speeding pickup truck struck them near Ibrahimbas village on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway under Ferozpur Jhirka police station limits in Haryana’s Nuh district on Saturday morning.
The incident occurred around 10 am while 11 workers were engaged in cleaning work on the expressway. The collision was so intense that six workers died on the spot, while the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, where their condition remains critical.
Following the accident, locals immediately informed the police and assisted in taking the injured to the hospital. A large crowd gathered at the site as ambulances, road safety agency teams, and police officials arrived.
According to a senior police officer, five of the deceased are believed to be from Kheri Kalan village and one from Jhimrawat village, though their identities are yet to be formally confirmed.
The driver of the pickup fled the scene. Police have initiated action against him and are investigating the cause of the accident.
“The circumstances of the accident will be ascertained with the help of CCTV footage and other evidence. The injured are being treated in the hospital, and we are investigating all angles,” said Inspector Aman Singh, SHO of Ferozpur Jhirka police station.
