A major landslide on the Adi Kailash Yatra route in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district has left hundreds of pilgrims and locals stranded. The route has been completely blocked, halting movement along the sacred pilgrimage path.
According to officials, teams from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) have reached the site and are working to clear the debris and restore access as swiftly as possible. The district administration is closely monitoring the situation, and relief efforts are currently underway.
The Adi Kailash Yatra, one of the most revered Hindu pilgrimages, is located in the Kumaon region at an altitude of 5,945 meters. It is part of the Panch Kailash—five sacred peaks associated with Lord Shiva. Although much of the route is motorable, certain sections require trekking and are prone to landslides, especially during the monsoon season.
The authorities have urged pilgrims to remain calm and cooperate with rescue teams as efforts continue to reopen the route.
