A major aviation disaster was narrowly avoided on Saturday when a Jaipur-to-Chandigarh flight was forced to make an emergency landing following the mid-air failure of both its engines.
The incident triggered panic among the 150 passengers and crew on board, but the aircraft managed to land safely at the Chandigarh Airport. Emergency protocols were immediately activated, with passengers quickly evacuated via emergency exits. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The airport authorities have cordoned off the aircraft for a technical examination. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has confirmed the engine failure and ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident. The aviation regulator has demanded a detailed report on the cause and sequence of events leading to the emergency.
“The safety of passengers is our top priority. A thorough inquiry has been initiated, and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings,” said a DGCA spokesperson.
