Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a massive rally at MA Stadium in Jammu today as part of the election campaign for BJP candidates contesting in the third and final phase of the assembly elections, scheduled for October 1.
Elections for Phase I and Phase II were successfully held on September 18 and 25, with high voter turnout. Phase One recorded a 61 per cent turnout, while Phase Two saw approximately 57 per cent.
A total of 50 seats were contested in both phases, and voting on the remaining 40 seats will take place in Phase III on October 1.
PM Modi has already addressed three rallies in Jammu and Kashmir; today’s rally will be his fourth for the three-phase Assembly election, covering 90 seats.
On September 14, Modi addressed two mega rallies in Srinagar and Katra, followed by a rally at the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Reasi district on September 19.
This will be his last poll rally, as campaigning for Phase III will end on September 29. Candidates contesting in the final phase will attend the PM’s rally along with the party’s top brass.
Eleven assembly constituencies in Jammu district—three in Samba, six in Kathua, and four in Udhampur—will go to the polls on October 1. The remaining Kashmir assembly constituencies will also vote in this phase.
Meanwhile, all security arrangements have been finalised by the administration for the prime minister’s rally today. Additionally, traffic plans are in place to ensure smooth movement for the large crowd expected to attend.
Polling for the third phase will take place on October 1, with results announced in October alongside the Haryana polls on October 8.
