Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Mumbai today to inaugurate the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple in Navi Mumbai’s Kharghar.

Ahead of his visit, the Navi Mumbai Police have issued a comprehensive traffic advisory to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and safety for all attendees.

PM Modi will dedicate the temple at Sector 23 in Kharghar and is scheduled to meet MLAs of the Mahayuti government during his visit.

The police have imposed traffic diversions and road closures to manage congestion effectively and ensure the safety of dignitaries attending the event.

Traffic diversions and restrictions

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Tirupati Kakade, stated, “On January 15, some roads in Kharghar will be closed to vehicles, and certain areas will be designated as ‘No Parking’.

Therefore, the traffic department has urged citizens to use alternative routes.”

Key routes affected include:

  • The closure of roads from Prashant Corner to Ove Gaon Police Chowki and from Ove Gaon Chowk to J Kumar Circle.
  • The restriction of access to both lanes from Ove Gaon Chowk to Gurudwara and J Kumar Circle.
  • No parking zones have been established from Hiranandani Bridge Junction to Utsav Chowk, Gramvikas Bhavan to Gurudwara, and Ove Gaon Police Chowki to ISKCON Temple Gate Number 1.

VIP and emergency vehicles will have special access, with police ensuring strict compliance with traffic rules.

PM’s other events

In addition to inaugurating the ISKCON temple, PM Modi will dedicate three frontline naval combatants – INS Surat, INS Nilgiri, and INS Vaghsheer – at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai.

He will also meet MLAs from the BJP-led Mahayuti government to discuss party strategies and upcoming elections.

"PM Modi is coming to Mumbai (on January 15) and will guide the Mahayuti MLAs. People have given us a landslide mandate - and hence, our responsibility has also increased... Today, we had a meeting and we discussed our party's organisation and decisions - we also discussed upcoming local bodies elections... The PM has continuously supported our govt and that's the reason our government did well in the last two and half years and that's why people have given us such a huge majority," said Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde..
