Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Chhattisgarh on Sunday, where he will lay the foundation stone, initiate work, and dedicate to the nation multiple development projects worth over ₹33,700 crore across various sectors.
This marks his first visit to the state after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. During his visit, he will also address a large public gathering, with officials estimating a turnout of around two lakh people in Mohbhatta village, Bilaspur district. In light of the event, security measures have been significantly enhanced.
The Prime Minister will arrive in Bilaspur at approximately 3:30 PM, following which he will oversee the launch and inauguration of various projects virtually from Mohbhatta village.
A key focus of these initiatives is the power sector, with several steps being undertaken to provide affordable and reliable electricity while making Chhattisgarh self-sufficient in power generation. As part of this effort, Modi will lay the foundation stone for NTPC’s Sipat Super Thermal Power Project Stage-III (1x800 MW) in Bilaspur district, valued at over ₹9,790 crore.
The project, based on advanced Ultra-Supercritical Technology, promises enhanced power generation efficiency. Additionally, he will initiate the commencement of the First Super Critical Thermal Power Project (2x660 MW) by the Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL), a ₹15,800 crore initiative.
Further strengthening the power infrastructure, the Prime Minister will dedicate to the nation three power transmission projects by POWERGRID, developed under the Western Region Expansion Scheme (WRES) at a cost of more than ₹560 crore.
In alignment with India’s net-zero emission goals, reducing air pollution, and providing cleaner energy solutions, he will lay the foundation stone for the City Gas Distribution (CGD) project of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) in Korea, Surajpur, Balrampur, and Surguja districts.

The ₹1,285 crore project encompasses over 200 km of high-pressure pipeline, more than 800 km of Medium-Density Polyethylene (MDPE) pipeline, and multiple CNG dispensing outlets. Additionally, Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Visakhapatnam-Raipur Pipeline (VRPL) Project by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL), a 540-km, ₹2,210 crore multi-product pipeline designed to transport petrol, diesel, and kerosene, with a capacity of over 3 million metric tonnes per annum.
The Prime Minister’s visit will also see the launch of key connectivity projects. He will lay the foundation stone for seven railway projects spanning 108 km and dedicate three railway projects covering a total of 111 km, collectively worth over ₹2,690 crore.
As part of these developments, Modi will flag off a MEMU train service on the Abhanpur-Raipur section via Mandir Hasaud and dedicate the complete electrification of Chhattisgarh’s railway network. These projects are expected to ease congestion, improve connectivity, and drive economic growth in the region.
In addition to rail connectivity, road infrastructure will also receive a boost. Modi will dedicate the upgraded Jhalmala-Sherpar section of NH-930 (37 km) and the Ambikapur-Pathalgaon section of NH-43 (75 km) to two-lane roads with paved shoulders.

Collectively, these road projects, valued at over ₹1,270 crore, will significantly enhance accessibility to tribal and industrial regions, facilitating regional development.
Education is another key area of focus during Modi’s visit. He will dedicate two flagship educational initiatives—130 PM SHRI Schools across 29 districts and the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) in Raipur.
These schools, upgraded under the PM Schools for Rising India scheme, will provide high-quality education with modern infrastructure, smart boards, laboratories, and libraries. The VSK in Raipur will facilitate real-time online monitoring and data analysis of various education-related government schemes.
Lastly, reaffirming the government’s commitment to providing housing for rural households and improving their overall quality of life, Modi will preside over the Griha Pravesh ceremony for three lakh beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G).
He will also personally hand over the keys to some of the beneficiaries, furthering the mission of providing secure and sustainable housing in rural areas.
