PM Modi's visit to Odisha on his 74th birthday would be the first after he attended the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on June 12.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Odisha on Tuesday to launch the state government's flagship women-centric initiative, Subhadra Yojana, as well as several railway and national highway projects.

The visit, coinciding with Modi’s 74th birthday, will mark his first trip to Odisha since attending the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on June 12. The Prime Minister is expected to arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport around 10:50 am.

In a post on X, Modi stated, "Leaving for Bhubaneswar. It is very special to be among the wonderful people of Odisha to launch SUBHADRA, an important scheme of the Odisha Government. This scheme will boost women empowerment and ensure financial independence for our Nari Shakti. Several other works will also be launched in the programme."

The Subhadra Yojana, named after Goddess Subhadra, aims to provide financial support to eligible women aged 21-60 years. Each beneficiary will receive Rs 50,000 over five years, from 2024-25 to 2028-29, with Rs 10,000 credited annually in two instalments directly to their bank accounts. The scheme is expected to cover more than 1 crore women. Modi will initiate the fund transfer for over 10 lakh women during the visit.

Additionally, Modi will inaugurate railway projects worth Rs 2,800 crore and lay the foundation for national highway projects exceeding Rs 1,000 crore. He will also release the first instalment of assistance to nearly 10 lakh beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)-Gramin, and oversee Griha Pravesh (house warming) ceremonies for 26 lakh PMAY (Gramin and Urban) beneficiaries across the country.

Modi is scheduled to hand over keys to new homes under PMAY and launch the Awaas+ 2024 App for surveying additional households for PMAY-G. He will also unveil the operational guidelines for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0 before returning to the national capital.
