The National Democratic Alliance is gearing up to launch its Tamil Nadu election campaign with a high-profile rally in Madurantakam on January 23, featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP legislative party leader Nainar Nagenthran shared detains about PM Modi's visit on Sunday. He confirmed that the PM will address a massive afternoon gathering intended to officially kick off the alliance's challenge against the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government.

Nagendran was particularly blunt about the goal of the visit, stating that the event would signal the beginning of the end for the current "anti-people" administration. While reporters pressed him for a definitive list of alliance partners — specifically asking if TTV Dhinakaran (AMMK), O Panneerselvam (OPS), or the DMDK would be sharing the stage — Nagendran played his cards close to his chest. He simply promised a major show of strength, telling the media, "You can see who is there on the stage on January 23."

The BJP leader also weighed in on the recent bickering between the DMK and AIADMK over "stolen" election promises. The DMK has been accusing the AIADMK of photocopying their welfare schemes, specifically regarding monthly aid for women. Nagenthran defended the AIADMK’s autonomy on this front, noting that Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) had already proposed similar aid in the last election cycle. "You can’t call it a copy just because they updated the amount to ₹2,000," he argued.

Beyond the campaign trail, Nagenthran took a moment to address rumors that the Centre had blocked the proposed Hosur International Airport. He clarified that the Ministry of Defence hasn't rejected the project but has merely asked for specific clarifications, urging the public not to jump to conclusions about the project being dead.

With the 2026 Assembly polls looming, the Madurantakam rally is being viewed as a make-or-break moment for the NDA as it tries to wedge itself between the state's two dominant Dravidian parties.
