PM Modi to unveil Rs. 30,500 crore development projects in Jammu on Feb 20; focus on education, healthcare & infrastructure

Prime Minister Narendra Modi to launch development projects in Jammu.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to launch, and lay the groundwork for a series of development projects worth over Rs. 30,500 crore in Jammu on February 20.

These projects are associated with the health, education, transportation (rail, road, and aviation), petroleum, and municipal infrastructure sectors. The ceremony will also include distributing appointment letters to around 1,500 new government appointees from Jammu and Kashmir.

A significant chunk of the effort, approximately Rs 13,375 crore, has been reserved for the improvement of the country's education and skilling landscape.

This includes the opening of new campuses for famous universities including IIT Bhilai, IIT Tirupati, IIT Jammu, IIITDM Kancheepuram, and the Indian Institute of Skill in Kanpur.

Furthermore, the inauguration of three new IIMs in Jammu, Bodh Gaya, and Visakhapatnam, as well as the construction of 20 Kendriya Vidyalayas and 13 Navodaya Vidyalayas, represents a significant improvement in the country's educational infrastructure.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Vijaypur, Samba, Jammu, a state-of-the-art facility established with an investment of over Rs 1,660 crore, is all set to be inaugurated, offering comprehensive, quality healthcare services across 18 Specialties and 17 Super Specialties, addressing the medical needs of the Jammu and Kashmir population.

Additionally, laying the groundwork for a new terminal at Jammu Airport marks a significant step forward in terms of regional aviation connectivity and tourism development. The new terminal, with its contemporary facilities, is expected to accommodate 2,000 passengers during peak hours.

In terms of rail connection, the completion of several projects, notably the electrification of the Baramulla-Srinagar-Banihal-Sangaldan segment, is another key step toward sustainable and efficient transportation.

The Prime Minister's announcement of major road projects, such as the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway and the four-laning of Srinagar Ring Road, demonstrates a comprehensive approach to improving road connectivity and reducing travel time, thereby promoting economic development and ease of access to key destinations.

The building of a Common User Facility (CUF) Petroleum Depot in Jammu, as well as the launch of numerous civic infrastructure projects, demonstrate a holistic approach to development. These projects aim to reinforce civic services, improve public facilities, and boost overall growth in Jammu & Kashmir.

The program includes a wide range of development projects aimed at improving the lives of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The government intends to implement substantial development initiatives in education, healthcare, transportation, and municipal infrastructure to create a 'Developed Jammu', ensuring the region's holistic growth and prosperity.
