PM Modi unveils ₹5,650-cr projects, flags off new trains in TN

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated, dedicated and laid the foundation stone for several development projects worth about Rs 5,650 crore in Tamil Nadu, stating that the initiatives would create thousands of employment opportunities for the youth.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated, dedicated and laid the foundation stone for several development projects worth about Rs 5,650 crore in Tamil Nadu, stating that the initiatives would create thousands of employment opportunities for the youth.

 

The Prime Minister also flagged off two Amrit Bharat Express trains — Nagercoil–Charlapalli and Podanur (Coimbatore)–Dhanbad — along with two express trains, Rameswaram–Mangaluru and Tirunelveli–Mangaluru Express. He also launched a new train service between Mayiladuthurai, Thiruvarur and Karaikkudi, enhancing rail connectivity between Tamil Nadu and regions, including Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala and eastern India.

 

In the petroleum sector, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited’s City Gas Distribution Network in the Nilgiris and Erode districts. The project involves an investment of over Rs 3,680 crore. It will provide PNG connections to more than 8.8 lakh households, supply gas to over 200 commercial establishments and set up more than 201 CNG stations.

 

Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi said these projects were important for the future development of Tamil Nadu. "It's related to projects worth Rs 5600 crore. These projects are about infrastructure, for clean energy, petroleum-related manufacturing, highways, railways and rural roads. They will boost energy access, connectivity and create thousands of jobs for the youth of Tamil Nadu," he said.
