Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth around ₹47,000 crore in Odisha and announced that Pahadpur village in Mayurbhanj district would be developed as a “Solar Village”. President Droupadi Murmu and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the public programme “Vikas Ra Dhara, Odisha Sara” to mark two years of the BJP government in the state, the Prime Minister said the government is working to transform Odisha’s natural resources into economic opportunities through investments and industrial growth.
The Prime Minister said campaigns such as “Utkarsh Odisha” have helped attract investments and promote industrial development in the state.Announcing plans for Pahadpur village, PM Modi said every household in the village would be provided access to solar energy. He said the village would develop its own identity as a hub for renewable energy, drawing inspiration from Odisha’s Konark Sun Temple.
Extending birthday greetings to President Droupadi Murmu, the Prime Minister said her rise to the country’s highest constitutional office was a matter of pride for Odisha and the nation. He also visited Pahadpur village along with the President earlier in the day.
Highlighting the government’s efforts towards tribal empowerment, PM Modi said tribal youth are being linked with better opportunities in education and employment. He noted that around 500 Eklavya Model Residential Schools have been established across the country to provide quality education to tribal students.
The Prime Minister said Odisha is witnessing an atmosphere of festivity with preparations underway for Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra and the Baripada Rath Yatra in Mayurbhanj. Earlier, President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Pahadpur village and offered prayers at the sacred groves of Santali Jahira and Ho Jahira, seeking peace and prosperity for the nation.
The Prime Minister also explored exhibits showcasing the rich tribal heritage, traditional crafts and indigenous products of the region and interacted with local residents to learn more about the vibrant cultural traditions of the tribal communities of Mayurbhanj. Odisha Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi received the Prime Minister on his arrival at Pahadpur.
In what is being seen as a significant outreach to Odisha’s tribal heartland, President Droupadi Murmu today accompanied Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a visit to her village, Pahadpur, in Mayurbhanj district. The visit assumed special significance as the Prime Minister joined President Murmu in her village on the occasion of her 68th birthday. The engagements reflected a shared commitment to tribal empowerment, educational advancement and inclusive development.
