Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to embark on a two-day tour of Assam, where he will unveil a series of projects totaling nearly Rs 11,600 crore, announced Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday.
PM Modi's visit is scheduled to begin with his arrival at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati around 7:30 pm on Saturday, followed by interactions with the BJP state core committee members at the Koinadhora State Guest House.
On Sunday, Modi is slated to address a public meeting at 11:30 am at the Veterinary College Playground in Khanapara, marking the inauguration of various state and central projects.
Among the prominent projects are the Kamakhya temple corridor (Rs 498 crore), a six-lane road from the new airport terminal (Rs 358 crore) in Guwahati, upgradation of the Nehru Stadium to FIFA standards (Rs 831 crore), and a new sports complex in Chandrapur (Rs 300 crore).
The prime minister will also kick off the second edition of 'Asom Mala' roads, consisting of 43 new roads and 38 concrete bridges, with a total investment of Rs 3,444 crore.
Additionally, Modi will lay the foundation stone for the integrated new building of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, estimated at Rs 3,250 crore.
The proposed Karimganj Medical College and Hospital, with a budget of Rs 578 crore, and a Unity Mall in Guwahati costing Rs 297 crore, will also have their foundation stones laid.
Furthermore, the prime minister is scheduled to inaugurate a newly constructed road in Jamuguri, developed at an expenditure of Rs 592 crore. The visit underscores the government's commitment to infrastructure development, healthcare facilities, and overall socio-economic progress in the northeastern state of Assam.
The series of project inaugurations and foundation stone layings are poised to significantly contribute to the state's growth trajectory.
