Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the Indian Armed Forces at the strategically vital Adampur air base in Punjab on Tuesday, emphasised India’s resolve in the face of aggression and paid tribute to the nation's military might. In a powerful speech, he invoked the legacy of Guru Gobind Singh to emphasise India's cultural tradition of standing up against tyranny.

“Today, Operation Sindoor is resonating everywhere. Every citizen is standing with the forces. The prayer of every citizen is with you. Every citizen is indebted to the forces and their families. India is the land of Gautam Buddha as well as Guru Gobind Singh, our enemies forgot they have challenged India's Armed Forces,” PM Modi said.

He added Guru Gobind Singh Ji said "Sava lakh se ek ladaun, chidiyaan te main baaj turaun, tabhi Gobind Singh naam kahaun."

“It is our tradition to take up arms for the protection of our Dharma. So, when the sindoor of our sisters and daughters was snatched away, we crushed the terrorists by entering their own homes,” he added, referring to India’s recent retaliatory strikes under Operation Sindoor.

PM Modi’s visit to Adampur came just days after Pakistan appealed for a ceasefire, following India’s high-intensity counteroffensive in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. The timing and location of the visit also served to counter Pakistani claims that the air base had been hit during their retaliatory attacks.

Adampur air base, located in Punjab’s Jalandhar district, is one of the Indian Air Force’s most critical forward-operating bases due to its proximity to the Pakistan border. Its strategic importance lies in its role in India’s air defence architecture, including hosting assets like the MiG-29 fighter jets and the S-400

“Sudarshan Chakra” air defence system — both visible in the backdrop of the Prime Minister’s address.

By visiting Adampur and directly addressing the troops, PM Modi reaffirmed India’s unwavering support for its armed forces while sending a clear signal of deterrence and strength to its adversaries.
