PM to lay foundation for ports, hospitals, solar hubs in Gujarat

PM Modi will visit Gujarat on Saturday to launch projects worth Rs 34,200 crore, covering maritime expansion, renewable energy, healthcare, highways and urban development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat on Saturday to launch and inaugurate development projects worth more than Rs 34,200 crore. The visit will centre on infrastructure, energy and maritime expansion.

 

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Modi will attend the Samudra se Samriddhi event in Bhavnagar at 10.30 a.m., where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects across multiple sectors. He is also scheduled to address the gathering.

 

A major highlight of the visit will be initiatives in the maritime sector valued at over Rs 7,870 crore. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal at Indira Dock and lay the foundation stone for new container facilities at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata, Paradip Port, and the Tuna Tekra Multi-Cargo Terminal. Projects for firefighting, road connectivity, and coastal protection at Ennore and Chennai ports, as well as a seawall at Car Nicobar, will also be launched.

 

In addition, greenfield projects will come up at Deendayal Port, Kandla, where a multipurpose berth and a green biomethanol plant are planned, alongside ship repair facilities at Patna and Varanasi.

The Prime Minister’s visit will also see the launch of central and state government initiatives worth over Rs 26,354 crore in Gujarat. These include the HPLNG regasification terminal at Chhara Port, the Acrylics and Oxo Alcohol Project at Gujarat IOCL Refinery, and renewable energy ventures such as the 600 MW Green Shoe Initiative, the 475 MW PM-KUSUM solar feeder for farmers, the 45 MW Badeli Solar PV Project, and the complete solarisation of Dhordo village.

 

Healthcare and urban development schemes will also feature prominently, with expansion works at Sir T. General Hospital in Bhavnagar and Guru Govind Sinh Government Hospital in Jamnagar, along with the four-laning of 70 km of national highways.

 

Later in the day, Modi will undertake an aerial survey of the Dholera Special Investment Region, conceived as a greenfield industrial city with sustainable and smart infrastructure. He will also review progress at the Rs 4,500 crore National Maritime Heritage Complex at Lothal, designed as a global centre to showcase India’s maritime traditions, boost tourism, and support education, research, and skill development.
