AIADMK chief Anbumani Ramadoss in Chennai, EPS reiterated the factor of the "winning alliance" of the AIADMK, BJP, and PMK having the strength to topple the DMK government.

In a major move to consolidate the opposition ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) confirmed on Wednesday that the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) has officially joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). While interacting with the media persons in the presence of AIADMK chief Anbumani Ramadoss in Chennai, EPS reiterated the factor of the "winning alliance" of the AIADMK, BJP, and PMK having the strength to topple the DMK government.

The move seems to herald a united show for the election season to come, with Palaniswami suggesting that more parties will soon be lining up. He noted that the decision has the full backing of party cadres and leaders across the coalition.

PMK’s Anbumani Ramadoss shared the stage, describing the partnership as a "joyous occasion" for his party. He launched a sharp attack on the ruling DMK, labelling it "anti-women" and "anti-people" while claiming that public resentment over corruption is at an all-time high. Ramadoss expressed total confidence that the alliance would secure a massive majority and form a government led by the AIADMK.

The buildup to this announcement has seen EPS sharpening his rhetoric against Chief Minister MK Stalin.

At a recent women’s conference in Kallakurichi, he accused the DMK of failing to maintain law and order and claimed the Chief Minister was merely taking credit for infrastructure and welfare schemes originally launched by the previous AIADMK government. As the state prepares for the 2026 battle, this formalisation of the NDA core sets the stage for a high-stakes showdown.
