Police personnel at the crime scene after a 21-year-old boy was killed by an unknown assailant, at the Mall Road in Shimla. Police have apprehended a 30-year-old man from Haryana's Sirsa suspected of perpetrating the murder of a restaurant worker in Shimla's bustling Mall Road area.
The victim, identified as Manish (21), was viciously attacked with a sharp weapon outside the eatery in the early hours of Monday, just outside the Police Control Room on Mall Road in Shimla.
The suspect, Satinder Pal, was apprehended on Monday night and subsequently transported to Shimla under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (Shimla) Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi.
Following the brutal assault, Manish desperately sought help from the nearby police assistance room but tragically succumbed to his injuries upon reaching the Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital (IGMCH).
Authorities swiftly launched an investigation, aided by CCTV footage, which aided in identifying the perpetrator.
The accused, Pal, had reportedly fled the scene following the attack.
A murder case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the apprehended suspect, adding gravity to the already sombre atmosphere surrounding the incident.
The incident has sparked widespread concern over law and order in Himachal Pradesh, prompting a heated debate in the state assembly, with the opposition, led by the BJP, pressing for answers regarding the prevailing security situation.
