Law enforcement agencies carried out multiple raids across various districts in the Kashmir Valley on Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation into the activities of several banned organisations, officials confirmed.
The coordinated search operations were conducted in the districts of Srinagar, Ganderbal, Shopian, and Baramulla.
These raids targeted multiple locations linked to individuals suspected of involvement with proscribed groups, including Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP), Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (Bashir Ahmad Tota Group), and the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League (Masrat Alam Faction), officials stated.
In Srinagar, the police raided the residence of Bashir Ahmad Tota at Pathan Colony, Zakoora, and simultaneously searched his previous residence in Reshanhar, Nawakadal.
The coordinated action was part of a broader effort to curb the activities of individuals allegedly engaged in separatist movements and other unlawful activities threatening public order and national security.
According to officials, search operations were carried out at the homes of individuals suspected of having affiliations with separatist elements and organisations banned under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Law enforcement agencies focused on gathering evidence and identifying networks that support anti-national activities.
During the course of these raids, security forces recovered a significant amount of incriminating material, including documents and digital records, which are now being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
These items are expected to provide critical insights into the operational structure and funding channels of the banned outfits.

Officials confirmed that multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered under UAPA in connection with these discoveries. The retrieved evidence will play a crucial role in further legal proceedings against individuals associated with these organisations.
Authorities ensured that the raids were conducted in the presence of magistrates and independent witnesses to maintain transparency and legal compliance. These measures were taken to prevent any procedural discrepancies and to uphold due process in the investigations.
Over the past several days, security agencies have intensified their crackdown on banned organizations in the region. The latest series of raids form a part of a larger strategy aimed at dismantling the networks that support anti-national and separatist activities.
Officials reiterated that strict legal action would be taken against individuals found to be directly or indirectly involved in activities threatening national security.
The investigation remains ongoing, with further operations expected in the coming days as authorities continue their efforts to curb separatist movements in the Valley. This latest crackdown underscores the administration’s commitment to eliminating unlawful elements and ensuring peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
