A woman in Amethi has filed a complaint against several police officers, including the Station House Officer (SHO) of Jamo police station, alleging assault and attempted rape.
The woman accuses the SHO and accompanying constables of forcibly entering her home late Monday night, when her husband was absent.
She alleges that the officers physically assaulted her, tore her clothes, and engaged in "obscene acts" against her.
She further alleges that the officers attempted to rape her daughter.
The woman's screams for help reportedly alerted villagers, who intervened and forced the officers to flee the scene.
She has stated that one of the officers left his cap behind in their haste, which she presented to the police station as evidence.
Superintendent of Police (SP) of Amethi, Anup Kumar Singh, has confirmed the receipt of the complaint and assured strict action against any personnel found guilty following a thorough investigation.
The alleged incident happened around 11 pm on Monday when the girl’s father was not home, the official said.
The complaint has been forwarded to Circle Officer, Gauriganj, Mayank Dwivedi, for further investigation.
