A high-intensity blast ripped through a car parked near the Red Fort on Monday evening, with the powerful explosion leaving multiple vehicles in flames and shattering window panes. Several people are feared injured. Multiple casualties have been reported even as there is no confirmation on the exact toll as the entire government machinery and Police is engaged in controlling the situation arisen out of blast. High alert has been sounded in the national capital after the incident.
The blast occurred in a high-security zone, sparking panic in the area and set fire to the vehicle and spread to three to four nearby cars, officials said. The incident occurred near Gate Number 1 of the station, the Delhi Fire Department officials said.Reports citing sources suggest that multiple people also sustained injuries in the incident, some of them critical. Unconfirmed details suggest at least one person was killed in a car blast near the Red Fort Metro Station. The explosion also triggered a fire that damaged three to four nearby vehicles.

Police sounded a high alert in Delhi. Seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot with police cordoning off the area, the Delhi Fire Services said.The blast was so powerful that it shattered windows of vehicles parked several metres away and was heard in nearby buildings of the congested area.
