President Droupadi Murmu graces convocation ceremony of AIIMS, Bathinda.


President Droupadi Murmu attended the convocation ceremony of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bathinda, Punjab, on Tuesday.

 

During her speech, the President highlighted the importance of AIIMS for both patients and medical students. She stated that for the general public, AIIMS represents top-quality and affordable healthcare, while for students, it offers excellent education and research opportunities. 

 

President Droupadi Murmu also attended the convocation ceremony of the Central University of Punjab in Bathinda today.


In her speech, the President said that a convocation marks the end of one phase in a student’s life and the beginning of a new journey. She expressed confidence that the graduating students would make their university, families, and country proud through their actions and contributions.


She noted that several AIIMS institutes have been set up across India to provide advanced medical treatment at an affordable cost and to promote research in the medical field.


President Murmu emphasized that leading medical institutions like AIIMS should not only focus on treatment but also be pioneers in research and innovation. She was pleased to see that AIIMS Bathinda, with its 750-bed hospital, is delivering quality healthcare services to the people through various specialty and super-specialty departments.

 


She urged AIIMS Bathinda to strive towards becoming a regional center of medical excellence. She encouraged doctors and researchers to focus their studies on both global and local health challenges, aiming for solutions that benefit society at large.


The President spoke about the esteemed position of doctors in society. She stressed that apart from professional knowledge, doctors should also embody human values such as compassion, kindness, and empathy.


She reminded the graduating doctors of their moral responsibility to serve people with dedication. She acknowledged that their profession often puts them in difficult situations, requiring them to manage their emotions while making critical decisions.


President Murmu also advised doctors to take care of their own health. She recommended maintaining a healthy lifestyle by incorporating yoga and exercise into their daily routine. She noted that staying mentally and physically fit is essential for them to continue serving others effectively.

 

After her visit to AIIMS Bathinda, President Murmu is set to attend various programs in Haryana, Chandigarh, and Punjab. On March 12, she will attend the convocation ceremony of Panjab University in Chandigarh.
