While speaking to the tribals residing within the Similipal National Park in Odisha, the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, on Friday appealed to the tribals living within the forest while urging them to raise their voices to highlight their problems. This she said when she commended that development would take place when the tribals raise their problems, as the tribals never open up about their problems.
The President, who became the first head of state to spend a night inside the forest bungalow at Similipal, also inaugurated three new 4G mobile towers. The towers are meant to bring connectivity to almost 26 villages and over 6,000 residents who live within the hilly terrain of the area. Though a fourth tower at Nanna was facing problems during her visit, the connectivity is a welcome step in the region.
Throughout her visit, President Murmu underscored the transformative power of education, urging tribal mothers to prioritise schooling for their children and advising youth to leverage their skills to become self-reliant. In an informal setting, she chatted with locals and distributed 100 blankets.
Taking to social media, she reinforced her message, urging the community to work hard and become active participants in the nation's broader development journey.
