Prof. Aditya Sahu was on Wednesday officially appointed as the Jharkhand State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with the formal announcement of his name made at 2 pm here on Wednesday.
Sahu was elected unopposed to the post as he was the sole candidate to file nomination for the position. Union Minister Jual Oram handed him over letter of appointment in the presence of Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi in Ranchi.
Beginning his political journey in 1980 at the age of 17, Prof. Sahu joined the BJP as a grassroots worker without any desire for position or personal gain. He started as a booth-level worker and gradually rose through the organisational hierarchy over more than four decades.

In 1984, he was entrusted with the responsibility of Booth President, followed by his appointment as a working committee member of Ormanjhi Mandal in 1989. His organisational responsibilities continued to expand as he became Mandal General Secretary of Ormanjhi in 1991.
Prof. Sahu moved to Ranchi in the mid-1990s and was inducted as a member of the Ranchi district working committee in 1995. Within a year, he was appointed District Membership In-charge, and in 1999, he became Vice-President of Ranchi District BJP, a post he held till 2002.
In 2003, Prof. Sahu was elevated as Ranchi District President, a position he held for two consecutive terms till 2010. His leadership at the district level paved the way for his induction into the State Working Committee in 2010, where he served till 2014. He later held the post of State Vice-President from 2015 to 2019.
Alongside his political career, Prof. Sahu has had an extensive academic and social service background. He served as a lecturer at RTC College from 1989 to 2009 and later as its Vice-Principal from 2009 to 2019.
He also held several key positions in educational institutions, including Secretary of Aurobindo Academy, Argora (2003–2009), Treasurer of Kisan High School, Kucchu (2000–2013), and Member of Shivaji Pratibha Vikas High School (2007–2018).
