On Thursday, police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district took a significant step in the pursuit of justice by attaching a land parcel belonging to a proclaimed offender. The land, measuring six kanals, is located in Bagyal Dara village in the Haveli tehsil of Poonch.
The attached property belongs to Mohd Bashir, who had been involved in a case registered at the Poonch police station under the provisions of the Egress and Internal Movement (Control) Ordinance.
The case stemmed from his alleged activities, prompting legal action against him. Bashir, however, fled to Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) to evade arrest and was subsequently declared a proclaimed offender by the court.
Despite repeated attempts by the authorities to locate and apprehend him, Bashir managed to evade capture. In light of his continued flight from the law, and after his failure to return to face charges, the court issued orders for the attachment of his property.
The police, working in collaboration with revenue officials, executed the attachment order on the six-kanal land in Bagyal Dara.
This action marks a clear message of the police's determination to enforce the law and bring absconders to justice. By attaching the property of proclaimed offenders, authorities aim to deter individuals from evading legal responsibility.
As per the officials, efforts to locate and apprehend Bashir are ongoing, and the police remain committed to ensuring that those who flee justice are held accountable.
