Amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has urged to the Government of India to take immediate steps to ensure the safe and respectful relocation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji's saroops (sacred scriptures) from gurdwaras situated in conflict-affected regions.
SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said the war spares no one, and with the situation escalating between the two nations, it is imperative to take immediate measures to protect the holy scriptures housed in gurdwaras, particularly in Tehran and surrounding areas.
Dhami called upon the Central Government to fulfil its moral and diplomatic duty by initiating steps for the protection of the saroops. He also urged Sikhs living in Iran and Israel to reach out to Indian embassies for assistance in safeguarding the sacred texts.
"The Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji holds utmost reverence in Sikhism. Ensuring the sanctity and safety of the saroops in war-hit zones must be a priority," he said.
