J&K Public Service Commission aspirants have appealed to government to end uncertainty over exam date which was originally scheduled to be held on December 7, Sunday. Candidates currently in Delhi and other States/UTs say they have no clarity on whether the exam will be held as planned or postponed due to ongoing considerations regarding the demand for upper age limit relaxation.

 

Hundreds of candidates appearing for the Preliminary exam of the J&K Administrative Services (JKAS) combined competitive examination are facing uncertainty over the scheduled date of Sunday, December 7, 2025.Many candidates expressed concern that the Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has not issued or uploaded any admit cards for the December 7 exam as of today, leaving them unsure about travel arrangements and preparation.

 

“We need clarity from the Commission to plan our return to Kashmir and make necessary arrangements. Right now, everything is uncertain,” said one aspirant.Despite this uncertainty, there is no official statement from the JKPSC. However, well-placed sources said that the Commission is awaiting the disposal of certain representations submitted by candidates seeking relaxation in the upper age limit—a decision that lies with the Government. The JKPSC conducts the notification, three phases of the examination, and prepares the selection list, but the authority to amend rules such as age limits rests solely with the Government.

 

According to the sources, as of now, there has been no communication from the Government regarding any change in the upper age limit or the postponement of the exam. “If we receive official instructions from the Government, we will postpone the exam and reschedule it on a convenient date,” said a senior JKPSC officer.

 

With only a week remaining for the preliminary test, candidates are urging the Commission to provide an official update immediately to avoid logistical and academic disruption. The situation highlights the need for timely communication in high-stakes competitive examinations.
