PSPCL employees join nationwide protests against privatisation

They are opposing the proposed Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2025 and the ongoing privatisation process in several states, including Punjab

Responding to a nationwide agitation called by the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE) and the All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF), all power engineer and employee unions in Patiala staged a protest rally against the proposed Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2025 and the ongoing privatisation process in several states, including Punjab.

Raising anti-government slogans, employees of the Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) said the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2025 would lead to a steep hike in electricity tariffs to the detriment of the common people.
